Vier Allen Goss III (1947-2016) – Heart Transplant Recipient

VIER ALLEN GOSS III

Halifax — Vier Allen Goss III, age 68, of 1019 Powells Valley Road passed away Tuesday, April 26th, 2016 at home in the presence of an extensive group of close family and friends.

Since having a heart transplant in May of 2014 he has been in and out of UPMC-Presbyterian in Pittsburgh to Lifecare-Bellview to Hershey Medical Center to Select Specialty in Camp Hill to Lifecare in Mechanicsburg battling complications resulting from the transplant surgery. He was everywhere but home and with the help of Celtic Hospice he returned home to spend his final time to say goodbye to family and friends.

He was born in Lewistown, PA the son of the late Vier Goss, Jr. and Alma [Hostetter] Goss.

He was retired lithographic press operator from the State of Pennsylvania general services. He was a member of the Valley’s E.CC. in Halifax where he served on the church council was a deacon and usher; Masonic Lodge #364 F. &A. M, Harrisburg Consistory, Tall Cedars Forest #125, Millerstown LOOM, Overview Anglers, member and past president of the Twin Valleys Lions Club, member and past noble grand of the Middletown Odd Fellows, Royal Arcanium.

Allen was a Corvette enthusiast and enjoyed rollercoasters. He shot a 17 point white tail deer in 2007 in Schuylkill county and held the state brown trout record for a day. He loved boating and camping at Raystown Lake.

Surviving are his wife E. Norine [Brown] Goss, a daughter Allison Tucci and her husband William Tucci of Millersburg; a sister Carolyn Goss of Hershey; sister-in-law Betty Eshelman; three brother-in-laws James Brown, Fred Brown and Stanley Brown; his miniature schnauzers Muffy and Mindy and grand dog Franklin.

There will be a viewing on Saturday, April 30th from 10 am til Noon at the Valleys E.CC. in Halifax. Masonic rites and funeral service will begin at Noon. Burial to follow at Riverview Memorial Gardens in Halifax.
