Wiconisco – Miller General Merchandise, 1908

S. MILLER ESTATE – GENERAL MERCHANDISE

The name of Miller has been an influential factor in the up-building and commercial development of Wiconisco for the last forty years. Established in 1868 by Miller and Heilner, Mr. Miller later purchasing Mr. Heilner’s interest, the store has always been one of the leading trade facilities of the town. In 1904, Mr. Miller died and the business has been continued by the estate, with Samuel H. Miller , a son, as manager. The line of goods carried is fresh, new and up-to-date. These included dry goods, notions, furnishings, queensware, shoes, groceries and provisions. This store is one of the oldest business enterprises in the town and may be said to be one of the most vigorous, the stock being complete in every detail and sold at the lowest prices consistent with best qualities. Mr. Miller, present manager, is a man of much energy, and by adopting modern methods has considerably increased the trade so that the store today is catering to the largest patronage of its many years existence. Mr. Miller is particularly well adapted to the business and enjoys a high standing in the community, as one of the town’s leading and most wide-awake business men. He is now a school director.
