SOLDIER REPORTED “MISSING IN ACTION”
According to recent advices, Private Albert E. Britton, of the U. S. Army, has been reported as “missing in action” during army operations in the Philippine Islands.
The young man, who is the son of Mrs. John Britton, of Woodbury, New Jersey, is a former resident of Lykens, and is a graduate of the Lykens High School.

FORMER LYKENS MAN DIES AS PRISONER OF WAR
The War Department recently advised Mrs. Xena Britton, of Woodbury, New Jersey, that her son, Corporal Albert A. Britton, 26, formerly of Lykens, died May 14, in the Asiatic area.
Britton was a native of Lykens and a graduate of the Lykens High School. He entered the army in 1941 and in October of that year was assigned to the Philippine Islands. He had been reported as a prisoner of war following the fall of Corregidor to the Japanese.
The report of Britton’s death, the official notification revealed, was received from the Japanese government through the International Red Cross.
He is survived by his parents, three sisters, and one brother, Mark B. Britton, who is serving with the Army Air Corps.
