Halifax Bank Robbery – Front Page of Scranton Tribune, 15 March 1901

The front page of the Scranton Tribune, Scranton, Pennsylvania, 15 March 1901, featured a story on the Halifax Bank Robbery that took place the day before in Halifax, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania.

The headline reads:

BANK CASHIER MURDERED

Charles W. Ryan of the Halifax National Bank, the Victim of Desperate Robbers

DESPERADOES CAUGHT

With Drawn Revolvers Henry Rowe and Weston Keiper Held Up the Attaches of the Bank and Collect All the Cash

Mr. Ryan Attempts to Push Aside the Guns and in the Struggle Is Shot in the Groin Receiving Fatal Wounds
