A photo post card from around 1904, of Helen Mae [Hoffman] Dietrich (1895-1977), shortly after moving to the home purchased by her grandmother, Hannah [Rickert] Riegle (1847-1919) on Specktown Road, Specktown, Lykens Township, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania. Helen lived at this home until she married William E. Dietrich and then for a short time after marriage lived in Harrisburg. When Hannah [Rickert] Riegle died in 1919, William and Helen purchased the home and farm from the estate and Helen’s mother, Lizzie Riegle, who had been living there, continued to make her home there. Lizzie died in 1942. Helen and Bill both died in 1977 after the property was sold at auction to enable them to move to the Lutheran nursing facility in Middletown, Dauphin County. Because this was Helen’s childhood home and she led there nearly her entire adult life, the property became known as the Riegle-Dietrich homestead.
