John G. Williard (1871-1945) – Soil Expert Killed by Auto

FATALLY INJURED WHEN HIT BY CAR

John G. Williard, age 74 years, widely known soil expert, died after being struck by an automobile, while he was walking on Highway Route 30, a short distance west of the city limit, Lancaster, Pennsylvania, Tuesday evening, 27 November [1945].

Dr. A. V. Walter, Lancaster County Coroner, reported the automobile was operate by Lt. F. S. Shenne, Lancaster R. D. 1, of the U. S. Army Air Forces.

Mr. Williard was a native of Lykens Township, Dauphin County, and spent his boyhood in the Pillow community.  He was a brother of Andrew Williard of Berrysburg.
