The article stated the following:
“If the price is close to the regular product, then we can usually sell it,” said Carla J. Suave, president of Don’s Food Rite. “We don’t don’t have as much profit markup on the organics to keep the product enticing for our consumers,” she said.
Don’s, which just started offering organic items about a year ago, usually runs four specials in its weekly flier for those foods, Suave said. Tomatoes, celery, mushrooms, potatoes, grapes, and bananas are among the organic foods her store offers….
