C. M. STEIN – General Merchandise
The name of Stein is another that has been an influential factor in the upbuilding and commercial development of Lykens. The enterprise was established by Mr. Stein in 1895. It is one of the largest and heaviest stocked in the Lykens Valley, and for thirteen years has been an important source of supply for many families. The line of goods carried is fresh, new and up-to-date, apparently selected with much care, always with reference to best values and their peculiar adaptation to the requirements of this neighborhood. These embrace dry goods and dress materials, ladies’ and men’s furnishings, groceries and provisions, and in fact everything to be found in a first-class and vigorously conducted general store. The standing of the house is unquestioned, and the reputation and high standing of its proprietor is sufficient guarantee for the prompt and satisfactory fulfillment of every representation made, both as to diversity, quality and low prices. Mr. Stein is a very active, keen, thorough business man and progressive to a degree. He is a native of Lykens, and during the years he has been identified with the borough’s commercial interests has gained a reputation as one of its most substantial and successful business men.
