The U.S. Postal Service announced in October 2022 that the historic Tamaqua Railroad Station, Tamaqua, Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania, will be featured on a 2023 stamp.
Tamaqua is one of five stations across the country to be featured. Other stations are Point of Rocks Station in Maryland, Main Street Station in Richmond, Virginia; Santa Fe Station in San Bernardino, California, and Union Terminal in Cincinnati, Ohio.
The postal service said, “Noteworthy railroad stations began brightening the American landscape by the 1870s and, although many were torn down once they had outlived their original purpose, hundreds survived.”
Today, passenger trains stop at all of them except Tamaqua.
