TWO MEN INJURED IN MINE CAVE-IN NEAR WILLIAMSTOWN, MONDAY
Two Upper dauphin County coal miners were injured, one critically, in a mine cave-in near Williamstown late Monday afternoon.
The men, admitted to the Polyclinic Hospital, were identified as Eugene Hechler, 31, of Elizabethville, formerly of this place [Lykens], and Isaac Gonder, 31, of Williamstown.
Hechler, who suffered a a deep laceration over his left eye, lacerations of the scalp and a possible scull fracture, was regarded as critical.
Gonder suffered lacerations over the left eye and face and a fractured nose. His condition was said to be fair.
Hospital attendants stated the men, both independent miners, were working int heir mine when the roof caved in, and a large amount of rocks crashed on them. The men were not believed to have been working very deep in the round.
After receiving emergency treatment from Dr. G. H. Barnd, of Williamstown, the men were removed by ambulance to the hospital.
